Convention Report: Boston Comic Con 2011
A bit belated, but here’s my recap of Boston Comic Con!
Boston Comic Con has probably been my favorite local convention over the past few years now, so I’ve been pretty stoked on the show’s growth within the past year, with the show finally making its big move from hotel basements to the Hynes Convention Center. Considering last year’s unexpectedly large turnout, Boston Comic Con was a perfect fit at the Hynes Convention Center, and I can only expect that next year will be even bigger and better. My one gripe was that the pre-registration line was pretty long (AK, who bought a ticket at the con, got in before the rest of us!), but I can only hope that Boston Comic Con will fine-tune their admission process and alleviate this problem at future shows.

On Day 1 of the convention, I had the AK (my partner-in-crime), my Boyfriend Wonder, Lauren, and Nick in tow as Robin, Inc. We originally had a few other girls in our sidekick line-up, however, they couldn’t make the convention; regardless, we still had a ball running around the convention as a pack (flock?) of Robins. Later on in the day, we met up with Karen (Damian Wayne), Mona (Donna Troy), Beck (Jason Todd/Red Hood), Randy (who really should’ve been our Superboy) and a bunch of other Robin enthusiasts at my Tumblr meetup, which was a success despite having to relocate (blerg!). I hope to organize a more organized meetup sometime this Summer, so stay tuned for that :)

We wandered over to Artist Alley, only to find out that the amazing Ming Doyle also participated in Robin Day and coordinated this elegant Robin party dress, with Alexa as her Batgirl and partner-in-crimefighting. Excellent job, ladies!
On Day 2, I ditched my original cosplay plans (which I’ve postponed until San Diego Comic Con) due to feeling absolutely miserable from allergies, so Andrew and I went as Booster Gold’s fan club. Unfortunately, we forgot to take photos of our Boosterific-yet-exhausted-pollen-ridden-selves, but I think that’s for the best. We spent the day wandering around the convention, scoring some great finds at the dealers booths and Artist Alley, and meeting up with people. All in all, Boston Comic Con was a success - I really enjoyed meeting a bunch of you guys during the weekend, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s show!
Finally, I’ve awarded the best costume at Boston Comic Con to Neil Cicierega, who was a hauntingly spot-on Crispin Glover/Willard:
