Last week, I had the pleasure of talking to Melissa of The Sartorial Nerd, who inquired about superhero makeovers, the evolution of my personal style, and being a feminist within the realms of fashion and comics. Here’s a quick exerpt from the interview:
The Sartorial Nerd: Is there any comic character whose costume you would redesign? What changes would you make?
Betty Felon: One of my biggest fashion gripes is Huntress’ current costume. I’m not a fan of the belly hole at all; bare midriffs just come across as fairly dated, regardless if you’re a superhero or a supermodel. I’m more partial to the full bodysuit worn in Huntress: Year One and the costume that Helena Wayne (the Huntress of Earth-2) wore, both of which provided coverage and were more flattering than the current costume. I think that the black and white cross motif on her cropped top could translate better as a full leotard or even as a bodycon mini-dress.
