Black Bat & The Spoiler, cosplayed by Betty Felon & Ali Kay
[Boston Comic Con 2012]
At Boston Comic Con, Nate Buchman pulled us aside from the sweltering exhibit hall to do a photoshoot in the more secluded areas of the convention center. AK and I have been wanting to cosplay Cass and Steph for a while now, and I’m still in awe that we were able to pull these costumes together before AK moved across the country. We had a great time bringing our favorite BFFs of the former DCU to life, running around the convention with our capes catching the wind.
We plan on bringing Black Bat & The Spoiler to SDCC (after a few upgrades to our costumes), so look out for us in San Diego this Summer!
Note: A super big thank you to Alex & Juli of Twin Bee, for helping us out with Black Bat’s suit and The Spoiler’s hood ♡ Aside from the boots, the rest of the costume pieces were created by me & AK.

NOTE: Guh, it’s been a while since I’ve photographed a comic-inspired ensemble, but here’s one from a couple years ago :)

I also ended up satiating my appetite for planets with free pizza.
Since convention season is right around the corner, I figured that it’s about time that I posted my convention/events schedule for 2012. Be sure to let me know if you are planning to attend any of these conventions - I’d love to meet some of my fellow Tumblrettes! :D
As always, I will have my camera in tow, so if any of you are attending these conventions, you better look sharp (whether you’re attending as a cosplayer or a civilian) - your ensemble may be featured on Fashion Tips From Comic Strips!
Events listed in bold = definite attendance.
Events listed in italics = tentative.

NYCC 2011 - Saturday : the Boyfriend Wonder & I as Aquaman & Mera!
I’ll post a full convention wrap-up of New York Comic Con in the near future, but for now, here are some of my favorite shots of our OUTRAGEOUS cosplay as Aquaman and Mera :) I redesigned Mera’s classic costume into a halter dress, and created my dress, crown, and Aquaman’s shirt. I made my Mera earrings from custom-ordered gold mirrored acrylic pieces that I attached to earring posts, while I used the Wonder Woman cuff set that I got from H&M as my bracelets. After a failed attempt to make boot covers out of a white spandex that was just slightly too sheer, I ended up wearing a pair of gold shoes that I got from Forever 21 last Winter. As for our tridents, Andrew found them at a costume shop, which he painted gold.
On a side note, my goal next year (or before I wear this costume again) is to make the white boots that I originally designed to wear with this dress, and to perfect the art of balancing big hair and disco collars.

My Snorlax dress is in the running for the ModCloth Masquerade Photo Contest! Feel free to vote for me (but only if you feel so inclined n_n;;).
Thanks in advance ♥
JUST SIGNAL-BOOSTIN’ MYSELF.
[Don’t mind me. Though, speaking of contests, I may hold one shortly after NYCC… stay tuned!]
