stephbuscema:

A Batgirl painting I reworked last night.

Stephanie Buscema reworked the Beat Girl Babs redesign that I posted a couple weeks ago, and somehow managed to make Babs even cuter! The lace-up boots in the original painting were switched out for a pair of yellow boots with bow detailing (hello, dream boots!), and the entire outfit is trimmed with an adorable scalloped hem.
On a side note, I really need that green Bat-argyle wallpaper in my bedroom.

Beat Girl Babs, by Stephanie Buscema.
This Barbara Gordon piece features a few of my favorite fashion staples: a cute dress, a peter pan collared capelet, my preferred incarnation of the Bat-symbol, a patent yellow belt, lace-up boots, and a matching record player (of course!). Basically, the perfect ensemble for Batusi-ing the night away~
P.S. For those of you who are attending Boston Comic Con in April, be sure to swing by Stephanie Buscema’s table, where she will have prints of this piece (and a selection of other beautiful artwork) for sale!

Sartorialist Meets Superhero: Barbara Gordon, dressed for what may be her last summer with us as Oracle, unfortunately.
On a sidenote, I was terrified of putting Barbara in the wrong kind of wheelchair (I’m still quite sure all I’ve done is draw something vaguely alluding to one). Thanks to Google though, I got to read all about this lovely woman.

Seeing Barbara in casual stripes is a refreshing break from her signature wardrobe comprised of green shirts, black tank tops, and button-up oxfords.

GillyPerkyGoth designed this retro Batgirl-inspired one-piece as a part of her series of Superhero Swimsuits sketches. The Bat-symbol on the bodice and the belt detailing are simple, yet effective, and the suit itself is a classic, flattering fit.
I think I may actually end my dreadful swimsuit search by appliquéing a bat on a cute yellow swimsuit now :D

Oracle really should break out her bat-boots more often.

Back in the 80’s, my parents went on a date at the boardwalk arcade of one of my favorite beaches, where they got a custom good luck token with their names printed on it. It wasn’t until high school that I found it amongst my parents’ odds and ends, while we were sorting through all of our belongings prior to moving into our new house; since then, I’ve worn it on a necklace almost everyday. A couple months ago, I managed to track down someone who owns one of these token machines and got these made for Andrew and me for Christmas and our 9 month anniversary.
They read “DICK GRAYSON & BARBARA GORDON.” Because, well… yeah.

Since I’ve been getting a handful of questions in my Ask box inquiring about my good luck token necklace (seen here & here) and since this is somewhat comics-related, I figured that I’d finally share one of many nerdy Christmas/monthaversary presents that I exchanged with the Boyfriend Wonder. :)
What did you guys get for the holidays?

If there’s anything that I’ve learned after years of Christmas shopping, it’s that the dressing room lines are usually far worse than the register lines during the holidays. However, in the event that Clayface starts a rampage in the mall, the dressing rooms tend to clear out pretty quickly.
On a side note, my New Year’s resolution for 2011 is to perfect the suiting up process until I’m as fast as Barbara.

Barbara Gordon’s blue coat kind of reminds me of this baby blue peacoat from Miu Miu:

I’m not quite sure if I would’ve coordinated this coat with a matching winter cap and ankle boots, but I do love how the dark grey gloves look with this color.

Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Oracle! by Brian Stelfreeze

“I decided that since (at the time) she was involved again with Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing (whose costume Brian actually designed), it’d be neat if he drew Babs wearing Dick’s NW shirt. […] I like to imagine it as Dick in the background saying ‘Babs, have you seen my shirt…?’”
- Roland Reedy, sketch commissionee.

I really want to make an off-shoulder Nightwing sweater now.
Maybe the Boyfriend Wonder will lend me his Nightwing suit… ;)
