As a fan of Katie Skelly’s work, I was pretty stoked when she joined forces with Seibei and designed some shirts featuring one of my favorite panels of Bon-Bon from Operation Margarine. Katie and I collaborated on a style guide on how to coordinate your very own Bon-Bon shirt with cloves, smudged eyeliner, and attitude. Katie also pulled some style inspo from her own wardrobe, Bon-Bon, and my wardrobe of primary colors, while I channeled Bon-Bon in an outfit I wore to MICE this weekend :3

One of the most discussed news items from last month’sComic-Con Internationalwas the first look atWonder Womanas she will appear inBatman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the new DC Entertainment film byZack Snyder. Played byGal Gadot, this will be the first cinematic appearance of William Moulton Marston’s Amazonian princess and feminist icon in her nearly 75-year history, and naturally fans have had a lot to say about the portrait debuted in San Diego. In reaction to the image, members of the ComicsAlliance staff assembled to discuss and critique Gadot’s costume, depictions of super-women on film, and the current state of superheroine fashion in general.
Today’s participants include CA’s superheroic sartorialistBetty Felon; clinical psychologist and Arkham Sessions co-hostDr. Andrea Letamendi; comic book editorJanelle Asselin; journalistJuliet Kahn; comics writer/artistKate Leth; and blogger/vloggerAngelina L.B.aka ALB, who makes her CA debut in this in-depth analysis. Join us for our roundtable discussion on Wonder Woman’s newest live-action steez, high heels, and the balance between practicality/realism and style in superheroine costume design.
I still have a massive HeroesCon recap blog post in the works, but considering the comics news today, I wanted to share this amazing commission that Babs Tarr drew for me at HeroesCon ♡
Since Babs was so busy at the con all weekend, I just handed her my sketchbook on Saturday and asked for a commission of Jem, but only if she wasn’t too bombarded with work. When I stopped by her table on Sunday, she surprised me with an illustration of me as Batgirl/Batmangirl and I almost started tearing up on the spot. Thank you so much, Babs - I really can’t wait to see you work your magic on the new Batgirl series this fall.
P.S. Also, thank you, Jordan, for coloring me in ♡
I will update my blog about our awesome trip to HeroesCon, but for now, here’s a photo of our Sex Criminals cosplay on Sunday. This was a really fun and casual cosplay for us - I’m hoping to get a proper photoshoot sometime soon~
