Doodled out my Black Cat & Kit redesigns from last night for a little warm-up.
As much as I love leotards, I’m all for Harvey Comics’ Black Cat in a sleek and modern catsuit. As for Kit, thank you for keeping his dope belt in his redesign.

Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 02.20.12
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Check out this week’s round-up of the Best Cosplay Ever on ComicsAlliance, featuring Nightwing, Kamen Rider Kiva, Sally Jupiter, Misty (above), and more!
Red and Blue here are meant to represent Spiderman, because I will go down with this ship.
Lids are first filled with Kryolan’s Aquacolor in White, applied with a damp brush. Mac’s Gesso Pressed Powder is then applied over lids, eyebrow bone, and inner corner of eye. Mac’s Espresso is then used to create a raised crease, and is then blended out before darkened slightly using Tarina Tarantino’s Butterfly Black.
Using a wet angled brush apply Sugarpill’s Afterparty Pressed Eyeshadow underneath bottom lashes to create an arched line pointing upwards. Apply NYC Liquid Liner in a dramatic cat eye arch, and mascara is then applied to top lashes using Rimmel Sexy Curves. Let lashes dry and curl them, applying false lashes of your choice, a spikier and less “natural” style is preferred.
Lips are lined with Clinique Lip Liner in Redy or Not and filled with Mac Lipstick in Russian Red.
Black Cat image is the cover of Amazing Spider-man Presents: Black Cat Volume #1 by Amanda Conner.
Previous Comic Book Looks: Red Robin, Emma Frost, Pixie, Catman, Psylocke
I love the incorporation of red and blue in this Black Cat look. Gorgeous work as always, Angelina!

I’m not sure how many of you watch Bored to Death, but I finally caught up to the season finale [“Super Ray is Mortal”}, where the later portion of the episode takes place at the fictional Brooklyn Comic Con. Check it out and see how many cosplayers you can spot - even Ray [Zach Galifianakis] participates by donning his own Super Ray costume.
Bonus points? You can totes spot Juli & Alex [of Twin Bee] as Black Cat & Harley Quinn in a ton of background shots, as seen above. I’m so stoked that my fellow lady villains were able to infiltrate the premises and sneak onto HBO… let’s just hope they succeeded in their side-mission of giving Jason Schwartzman my number.
