While I was packing, I found the greatest accessories you’ve never heard of!
I originally commissioned these for my Booster Gold Fan Club President ensemble at NYCC 2011, but nowadays, they occasionally reside on my jacket lapels and purses. Anyway, since I will be focusing on moving all week and then heading to NYC for the long weekend, I figured that I’d open my Ask box for any inquiries/messages (perhaps I’ll even respond to some of them at the end of the week in video form!).
So hit me up with some questions~!(Side note: send all personal/non-comics/fashion-related questions here ♡)

As many of you know, I’m rarely seen without a bow in my hair whenever I’m in civvies (and occasionally, in costume), so it was inevitable that I would fall in love with LadyLawga’s bows.
Artist LadyLawga (whose superheroic lolita redesigns have been featured previously on Fashion Tips from Comic Strips) is launching a ridiculously cute line of bows inspired by some of our favorite superheroes (and wizards). Through the use of Spoonflower, she created customized cotton fabric printed with her own original designs, which she then transformed into adorably nerdy hair bows.
The bows are currently available for pre-order before October 30th at the mere price of $3 per bow (S&H excluded), so be sure to check out the selection and place your orders ASAP!
Can any of you guess which bows I ended up pre-ordering? :)

Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 08.22.11
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Check out this week’s round-up of the Best Cosplay Ever on ComicsAlliance, featuring Mera, Lydia Deetz, Dexter’s Laboratory, Morrigan (above), and more!

overgrownbat:

Sartorialist Meets Superhero: Michael Carter and Ted Kord know they’re in demand and are loving it.
Fun fact: Michael was queued to be published last night but apparently didn’t want to without Ted.
Thanks to everyone who put suggestions in my ask/comments! They have been duly-noted.

Now, I declare this PROPER BOOSTLE SWAGGER~
Track jackets, suits, skinny ties, neutral tones, white kicks, and two of my favorite superheroes ever. And while I’d love it if Yaz threw in more dashes of blue in both of their outfits, I love that all these Sartorialist Meets Superhero redesigns are more subtle than most redesigns I’ve seen.

Booster Gold and Ted Kord!Blue Beetle flappers, by zmpeccadillo.
I think that my favorite thing about this redesign is Blue Beetle’s peter pan collar; I’d love to recreate something similar, complete with the Beetle detailing in dark blue seed beads, for that 1920’s touch. The star and scarab brooches/buckles on the dropped-waist seams and the cloche hats add a healthy dose of elegance to this look, while the classic Blue-and-Gold color palette keeps the look bright and fresh.
The only thing missing from Booster’s ensemble is a sequined Skeets-shaped cocktail purse. :)

In which, I now own a Flight Ring.
I stole it from the DC Direct Saturn Girl that I purchased at Comicazi a couple weeks ago.

Despite the fact that I’ve never watched an entire episode of Smallville previously, I must admit that I was pretty stoked that everyone was wearing the Booster Gold Fan Club shirts [previously featured here and here].
On a side note, head over to ComicsAlliance to read Chris Sims and David Uzumeri’s recap of Smallville episode 10.18, “Booster.”
