Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.

Hipster Cyclops & Hipster Phoenix, by Joel Carroll[Inspired by Nate Bellgarde’s recent X-Hipsters!]
Okay, I kind of really dig these a lot, specifically:
the X-Men zipper pulls
Scott’s black x yellow striped top
Jean’s yellow cat-eyed glasses, in place of her mask
double belts
yellow matching funky, chunky kicks
Also, I really love how Scott’s visor works into this redesign quite impeccably.

X-Men Werk shirt, by Mighty Fine, $25.[available in red, silver, aqua blue, and black]
For you male mutants who may have felt left out from the selection of Nagel-styled X-Ladies, Mighty Fine now presents X-Men as Kraftwerk, in the style of the cover art for The Man Machine.

I am in absolute awe. I’d also like a red button-up shirt with the X-emblem on it, please.
Attention Fashion Tips From Comic Strips subscribers:Between now and July 22, 2011, you can get 10% off your entire Mighty Fine order if you use the coupon code FTFCS. Happy shopping! :D

flyphoenixfly-deactivated201107 asked: Topping my bf's Xmas list this year, are red lensed sunglasses similar to something Cyclops would wear. I've been searching and searching and the only nice ones I can find are over $200 bucks. Do you, by chance, know of anywhere that may have nice, yet inexpensive ones?

Try searching online and at party/accessories shops for robot/roboto glasses. I found these silver glasses with red lenses [which look very similar to Cyclops’ more modern look] and these yellow roboto glasses [which look more like his original costume]. And if your boyfriend’s looking for the original yellow glasses but with red lenses, perhaps you could buy both pairs and try to snap out the red lenses and pop them into the yellow frames!

I hope that helps, and good luck :D
