Marvel Girl & Rule 63 Cyclops, cosplayed by Ali Kay & Betty Felon
So I just realized that I never posted these from San Diego Comic Con (oops), but anyway, here’s that time when we crossed over to the Marvel side. I redesigned Scott Summers’ digs into a colorblock dress, modified a pair of sunglasses for my visor, whipped up the X-symbol belts, and made AK’s Marvel Girl mask; meanwhile, AK created her Marvel Girl dress from scratch. Our gloves, boots, and wigs were acquired from Dorothy’s Boutique and eBay.
As much as we loved running around as Bats earlier during the convention, it was actually quite nice trading in our dark capes for something a little more mutant.

Currently on sale at Fab: Comic sunglasses, by Eyepster, $12.99 each.
I spy Cyclops!
These quirky, novelty sunglasses by Eyepster are the perfect accessories for those of us who want to read comics in the Summer sun (though I can’t guarantee their ability to restrain optic blasts). These specs are currently 50% off until this Thursday (May 17) - be sure to head over to Fab ASAP to grab a pair for yourself!
Manicure Monday: X-Men nails, by Nevorpurify’s Nail Art.
Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 01.30.12
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Check out this week’s round-up of the Best Cosplay Ever on ComicsAlliance, featuring Poison Ivy, Black Mask, Pixie, Katamari (above), and more!
Minimal Marvel t-shirts, by Mighty Fine, $25 each.
I absolutely adore these minimalist takes on the X-Men, especially for Rogue and Cyclops.
Hipster Cyclops & Hipster Phoenix, by Joel Carroll
[Inspired by Nate Bellgarde’s recent X-Hipsters!]
Okay, I kind of really dig these a lot, specifically:
Also, I really love how Scott’s visor works into this redesign quite impeccably.
