Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 06.27.11
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Check out this week’s round-up of the Best Cosplay Ever on ComicsAlliance, featuring Booster Gold, Cutie Honey, Madman, Team Rocket (above), and more!

Close-up of Lois’ twin-tipped Fred Perry polo shirt.
And for those of you who are looking for the perfect thing to wear for when you attempt to sneak into LexCorp and when you inevitably meet Superman (so versatile!):

white twin tipped polo shirt, £50, Fred Perry
While I’ve always wanted a Fred Perry shirt, they’re still way out of my price range, especially for such a simple polo shirt. You can recreate this look by looking for a similar polo shirt (at virtually every clothing store) and be sure to keep an eye out for striped hem detailing, a smaller/crisp collar, and a snug, yet flattering overall fit.
Be sure to remember to pack your makeshift disguise in your purse before you head over to LexCorp.

Whenever I have a job interview or a business meeting (oh, daytime civilian disguises!), Lois Lane is my fail-proof fashion icon, as the queen of business casual. I especially love how Gary Frank styled her in Superman: Secret Origin; within her first appearance in this series, she is dressed in a white, twin-tipped Fred Perry polo shirt and a black pencil skirt. While I’m not crazy about the open-toe mules (I would’ve preferred simple black heels), her ensemble is a refreshing and simple update from her standard power suits or her countless pleated skirts. It’s also nice to see that she is just as assertive with or without her blazers.

Lois & Clark, by Ming Doyle
See? It’s nice to see them in something a bit more high-fashioned, and even moreso, seeing Clark in a different style of civvies. I love how Ming played up their respective silhouettes by piling on a variety of layers, fabric prints, and textures, and makes sure to place a coffee in Lois’ hand and a messy pile of papers under Clark’s arm, so you know that they’re knocking them dead at the Daily Planet.
Also, Clark is totes wearing Chuck Taylors. Swoon.
