Finally done with this! I did a dress design based on Phoenix’s costume (originally designed by Dave Cockrum) - I imagine in real life the phoenix logo on her chest will be embroidered in beads, as do the gold details on her sleeve.
This kinda took me forever. I’m terrible with backgrounds - I tend to make them very cluttered, so it took quite a while to clean everything up so she will be the focus of the artwork.

This Phoenix-inspired evening gown is gorgeous - I love the detailing on Jean’s puffy sleeves.
… Does it come in red?
Marvel Girl & Rule 63 Cyclops, cosplayed by Ali Kay & Betty Felon
So I just realized that I never posted these from San Diego Comic Con (oops), but anyway, here’s that time when we crossed over to the Marvel side. I redesigned Scott Summers’ digs into a colorblock dress, modified a pair of sunglasses for my visor, whipped up the X-symbol belts, and made AK’s Marvel Girl mask; meanwhile, AK created her Marvel Girl dress from scratch. Our gloves, boots, and wigs were acquired from Dorothy’s Boutique and eBay.
As much as we loved running around as Bats earlier during the convention, it was actually quite nice trading in our dark capes for something a little more mutant.

Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 02.06.12
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Check out this week’s round-up of the Best Cosplay Ever on ComicsAlliance, featuring The Thing, Bayonetta, Sheik, Angewomon (above), and more!
