Ankh jewelry will always remind me of Death.

Jamie Carr (designer of Neighborhood Story) designed this set of Death-inspired accessories, updating Death’s large silver ankh pendant into modern brass gems that could be easily coordinated into Summer to Fall looks (even if your wardrobe strays from all-black ensembles).

  • Ankh Choker, $20 [link]
  • Ankh & Skull Bracelet, $20 [link]
  • Ankh Bobby Pins Set, $12 [link]

Styling suggestions:

The ankh choker looks beautiful when worn under the collar of a button-up shirt. The ankh & skull charm bracelet is perfect for bracelet stacking. The ankh bobby pins would look great pinned in a mass of black, unruly hair.

Marvel and 1928 Jewelry Co. Launches Superheroic Jewelry Collection [link]

Just in time for the release of The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man films, Marvel Comics collaborated with 1928 Jewelry Co. to launch a jewelry and accessories collection inspired by some of Marvel’s finest heroes, including Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, The Punisher, and Wolverine.

Check out the Marvel x 1928 Jewelry collaboration on ComicsAlliance!

I currently have my eye on the Spider-Man Web Bracelet & Spider Ring and the Thor Charms Crystal Dangle Earrings. Which items in the collection are you coveting?

Emma Frost | The White Queen.
A quick design, but the thinking behind it was: if she’s called The White Queen, why shouldn’t her costume be connected to that? With that in mind, I looked up a couple of Elizabethan outfits and went from there, while trying to keep it true to her origins as a member of the Hellfire Club.

A beautiful Elizabethan-inspired Emma Frost redesign by Jamie McKelvie.
Side note: My wardrobe is severely lacking an X-Men pendant on a string of pearls.

Vintage Kryptonite necklace, $29.99, RetroNew.
“Make YOUR SUPERMAN Defenseless” (uh, what?) with this vintage Kryptonite necklace. Personally, I prefer my Kryptonite to be a more vibrant shade of green, but I really like how charming and inconspicuous this pendant is.
Regardless, my search for a Kryptonite ring continues forth~!

A more affordable (and perhaps more wearable?) alternative to the Supergirl necklace from the nOir Jewelry x DC Comics collection.

Super Style: Sound Effect & Speech Balloon Accessories [link]
As what’s been called “geek culture” continues to flourish within mainstream culture, the stigma once associated with being a “nerd” is quickly being replaced with an eagerness to proudly express one’s inner geek on her sleeve — for our purposes, literally! In the world of fashion, high end designers have been pulling inspiration from superheroes and other fantastical fictional characters, not to mention the countless t-shirts, dresses and accessories designed and produced daily about the icons of comics, sci-fi, video games, and more. On a smaller scale, the vitality of crafting communities (such as Etsy, Craftster, and Cut Out + Keep) has provided fans and artisans alike to share and sell their creatively nerdy wares. You call it geek chic, we call it Super Style. Every week,ComicsAlliance will showcase a catalog of selected items that seamlessly splice nerd culture with fashion, and just in time for Pay Day too! This week, Super Style shows you how to add sound effects to your swagger with accessories saturated in comic book onomatopoeia and speech balloons - check out this week’s Super Style on ComicsAlliance!
