2012 Conventions & Events Since convention season is right around the corner, I figured that it’s about time that I posted my convention/events schedule for 2012. Be sure to let me know if you are planning to attend any of these conventions - I’d love to meet some of my fellow Tumblrettes! :D As always, I will have my camera in tow, so if any of you are attending these conventions, you better look sharp (whether you’re attending as a cosplayer or a civilian) - your ensemble may be featured on Fashion Tips From Comic Strips! Snikt Jacket, by Volante Design.

Volante Design debuted this Wolverine-inspired Snikt Jacket a couple weeks ago at New York Comic Con. The jacket also includes a removable hood (as featured in the concept art on the right). I love how this jacket combines both sportswear and structural elements within its sleek design.

NYCC 2011 - Saturday : the Boyfriend Wonder & I as Aquaman & Mera!

I’ll post a full convention wrap-up of New York Comic Con in the near future, but for now, here are some of my favorite shots of our OUTRAGEOUS cosplay as Aquaman and Mera :) I redesigned Mera’s classic costume into a halter dress, and created my dress, crown, and Aquaman’s shirt. I made my Mera earrings from custom-ordered gold mirrored acrylic pieces that I attached to earring posts, while I used the Wonder Woman cuff set that I got from H&M as my bracelets. After a failed attempt to make boot covers out of a white spandex that was just slightly too sheer, I ended up wearing a pair of gold shoes that I got from Forever 21 last Winter. As for our tridents, Andrew found them at a costume shop, which he painted gold.

On a side note, my goal next year (or before I wear this costume again) is to make the white boots that I originally designed to wear with this dress, and to perfect the art of balancing big hair and disco collars.

Cosplay Photo Highlights From New York Comic Con 2011 [link] As you know from our previous roundups of convention cosplay from San Diego, Dragon*Con and of course our weekly Best Cosplay Ever feature, we are big fans of cosplay. The comics, sci-fi, gaming and fantasy communities’ talents for homemade disguises, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics were definitely on display last weekend at New York Comic Con, and you’d better believe ComicsAlliance was there to take in as much as we could. Check out some exceptional examples of superheroic cosplaying talent that we spotted in New York on ComicsAlliance! How many fellow Tumblrers can you guys spot? :)

NYCC costume schedule!

Sorry for the delayed announcement, but here is my costume schedule for this weekend at New York Comic Con!

FRIDAY: Booster Gold fan club president (with the Boyfriend Wonder as the Greatest Hero You’ve Never Heard Of!)

SATURDAY: Mera (with the Boyfriend Wonder as Aquaman)
SATURDAY NIGHT (at the Geek Girls Party): Ellie from iZombie, which I wore yesterday at Preview Night. Since the party is zombie-themed this year, I figured that I’d show up as a zombie’s ghostie-bestie.

SUNDAY: Hank Venture (in his Aquaman pajamas and Brock’s JACKET)
