Due to sickness and an increasingly hectic schedule, I’ve been backlogging many  posts in progress lately, including a bunch of scans, future/postponed contests, New Releases outfits, etc. Be sure to look out for my PAX East convention report later tonight - until then, here’s an outfit I wore last month :)

MAC Wonder Woman Preview Party on Newbury Street (02.04.11) ★

Last Friday, Lulu Bonanza and I trekked over to the Wonder Woman Collection Preview Party at MAC Cosmetics on Newbury Street, and we had a total blast! Since I saw that a couple of items that I wanted were already sold out online, I made sure to fill out and submit my MAC shopping list as soon as I entered the store to reserve everything on my wishlist.

After I alleviated all of my shopper’s anxiety, we mingled with other enthusiasts of cosmetics and/or Wonder Woman and tested out some of the makeup, while snacking on comic onomatopoeia cookies and sipping on pink Paradise Island drinks. We also instinctively went into Wonder Woman poses with our bracelets every time the Wonder Woman theme started playing in the store :D

One of my favorite items that I tested out was the Penultimate Eyeliner in Rapidblack, which creates the perfect thick cat eye look that I wear daily in one impeccably inky swoop of the pen, putting my previous eyeliner pens to shame. While many makeup reviews have poked fun at the packaging and the slightly larger scale of some of the items (the Penultimate Eyeliner included), I find the overall aesthetic of the collection to quite charmingly retro and kitschy.

In spirit of the event, both Lulu and I dressed up in Wonder Woman-themed ensembles, complete with matching lassos, bracelets, and stars, which the MAC employees wouldn’t stop gushing over :) To the dismay of the both of us (and many ladies), there were no metallic-clad makeup models at the event in Boston; we were really looking forward to seeing some of the featured collection looks in person. However, in light of their absence, some customers excitedly asked to take photos with me in front of the Wonder Woman displays, which actually made me feel like a Wonder Woman for once, rather than a Girl Wonder :)

Guh, the fact that my skirt buttons are just the slightest bit off-center in this photo is kind of driving me crazy. This new year, I aspire to look less awkward in my outfit photos, and more importantly, to obsessively ask myself: what would Superman/Lex Luthor do?
