Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 02.11.12
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving communities of costuming that exist, such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.

mingdoyle:

Two fashion/lifestyle concepts from 2007 - Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne.

In this new Fall collection from Stolen Couture, the timeless Miss Selina Kyle transitions seamlessly from day to evening to darkest night in three signature styles.

Selina’s set to cause serious shopping damage in the trendy clothing boutiques of Gotham City’s edgy Pope District in a “plum crazy” bodysuit with matching capelet, and just as prepared to cut a path through flimsy socialites to find some real diamonds amidst the fluff in an “emerald endeavors” evening gown.

With the help of these hot new looks, here’s one cool Cat who won’t be left out in the cold when it comes to dressing for any occasion!

I LOVE WRITING SILLY COPY. <3

These were two of my first prints that I ever purchased from Ming a few years ago. I would love to see her do an entire Gotham-inspired lookbook.

Catwoman Zig Zag Hem T-shirt, $67, available on Oasap.

A Batman Returns-era Catwoman shirt with batwing sleeves? I don’t know about you, Miss Kitty, but I feel so much yummier.

Coordinate the purrfect ensemble by balancing the loose shape of this top with a black pencil skirt or wetlook tights.

ComicsAlliance Demos Converse’s Customizable DC Comics Sneakers [link]

As the latest installment in the DC Comics x Converse collection, Converse launched today its Design Your Own DC Comics Chuck Taylor All Star shoes campaign, featuring mix-and-match custom shoe design options that include Batman, The Joker, Catwoman, and The Riddler. This exclusive feature allows the customer to design their own shoe by offering a selection of customizable parameters, including the color/print of the canvas, emblems, rubber soles, lining, and even a personalized heel strip.

Converse offered me the opportunity to demo the entire Design Your Own DC Comics Chuck Taylor All Stars process early, and I tweaked every single design parameter to utter purrfection. Check out my review of the product and process and the un-boxing photos of my combative kicks on ComicsAlliance!

Selina’s Nails t-shirt, by ninjaink, $24.54 via RedBubble[available in men’s & women’s sizes]
After long nights of combat (and furious typing), my chipped claws are long overdue for a proper manicure at Selina’s Nails. I love this sassy Patrick Nagel-inspired take on Batman Returns’ Catwoman - definitely adding this shirt to my RedBubble wishlist!

Catwoman, Christian Dior Haute Couture, Spring/Summer 2001.
Inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costume in Batman Returns.

I love how this ensemble incorporates structural and design aspects of both Selina’s office civvies in the film and the black patent trench coat that Selina reconstructs into her costume.

And now I suddenly feel inspired to create a skirt inspired by this Christian Dior design, inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer’s digs in Batman Returns

I guess I better get sewing.

André x Catwoman collaboration:

 • The Cat - kitten heel with whiskered purple heels
 • Gotham - green ballet flat
 • Catwoman - black ballet flat with kitty face detailing (!)
 • Selina Kyle - black suede boots with patent leather trim (a sleek, black version of the André x Wonder Woman boots)

I believe an impromptu trip to France is in order…

Cat civvies [lookbook]
So all these Catwoman-themed posts just made me realize that I never posted this outfit that I wore at NYCC 2010! Since I had been modeling for Twin Bee on Sunday morning (hence my blissfully big hair), I opted for civvies for the rest of the day… however, I ended up channeling Selina Kyle in the process. :)

Sartorialist Meets Superhero: You’ll only ever see Selina Kyle once, but you’ll never forget her (or everything she stole from you).
On a sidenote, I don’t think I do that patch-pocket on the skirt justice, because it really is something to admire. Take a look at the outfit here!

Selina looks so divine in white. Plus, she’d totes love that sneaky patch pocket.
Check out more of Yas’ stylish redesigns on her Tumblr, as well as on Fashion Tips From Comic Strips :)
