ComicsAlliance Demos Converse’s Customizable DC Comics Sneakers [link]

As the latest installment in the DC Comics x Converse collection, Converse launched today its Design Your Own DC Comics Chuck Taylor All Star shoes campaign, featuring mix-and-match custom shoe design options that include Batman, The Joker, Catwoman, and The Riddler. This exclusive feature allows the customer to design their own shoe by offering a selection of customizable parameters, including the color/print of the canvas, emblems, rubber soles, lining, and even a personalized heel strip.

Converse offered me the opportunity to demo the entire Design Your Own DC Comics Chuck Taylor All Stars process early, and I tweaked every single design parameter to utter purrfection. Check out my review of the product and process and the un-boxing photos of my combative kicks on ComicsAlliance!

Chuck Taylor DC Comics - Batmobile (Kids 1-3 yr), $37, Converse
Although the current DC Comics x Converse catalog is pretty sweet, none of the designs have really made me rush out to purchase a pair of kicks; partially because I seldom wear sneakers, and primarily because when I do, I already own a pair of vintage Batman x Converse hi-tops. That said, it appears that I’ve finally encountered the only exception: if these Batmobile Chucks were available in adult sizes, I would stock up on a few backup pairs and wear them EVERY FUCKING DAY.
Get on it, Converse.

Femme Fatale (aka Wonder Woman), by Reebok

“With bold prints and bright colors, the Freestyle Hi Femme Fatale – aka Wonder Woman – is anything but ordinary. Because, for you, vanilla just doesn’t cut it.”

- Reebok

Regardless of whatever that description means, I really want these. While I rarely wear sneakers outside of the gym nowadays, I’d definitely make an exception for these Wonder kicks. I love the high-cut retro style, the double Velcro straps, and the metallic colorway, however, the blue soles alone sold me. Unfortunately, these seem to be sold out everywhere, so I think I may just have to settle for spraypainting the soles of my red Saucony Jazz kicks with blue spraypaint…

Plus, can you just imagine how fly these would look with that huge Wondy necklace from the nOir Jewelry collection? YEAH.

Batman & Robin customized Nikes, by Brass Monki, inspired by the 60’s live-action series.
[I meant to post these last Friday, and I’m sure everyone’s seen them by now, but just for good measure…]
While I absolutely adore the grey and yellow double lacing and the classic colorway of the Bat-sneakers, the yellow trompe l’oeil stitches [emulating the front torso detailing of the classic Robin costume] on the Robin shoes won me over. Proof that sidekicks do indeed get the best kicks.
At £500.00 per pair, they can be yours! Oh, the perks of being the young ward of a billionaire playboy…
On a side note, what other comic-inspired customized kicks would you want to see? Ever since malpertuis mentioned wanting Blue Beetle/Booster Gold custom sneaks, that’s really all I’ve been daydreaming about.
